Shoujo is a genre that usually centers on young love and the pains of growing up. While you won't find any series that can rival the top shonen anime, the genre has tons of followers from all walks of life. From tear-jerking anime series to ones that do nothing but create comedy for their viewers, there is a shoujo series out there for everyone.

One huge problem with the genre is that more often than not, the series never finish adapting their source material. Most shoujo shows even seem to end solidly, only for fans to later learn that it barely scratched the manga's surface.
