As with most hobbies, what starts out small grows bigger and bigger. But small is exactly what this hobby is all about. Chassy Roberts and Doug Foraker are seeing small but are intent with taking their new small pastime to much bigger levels.
The Cambridge couple, who live on North Fifth Street, found a love with fairy gardens. Chassy began her hobby putting in a few plants, some colored stones and other items into the top of a bird bath on their porch. Designed around the color pink, Chassy found a passion for this ever-growing hobby that many other people have also found.
About three months ago, Doug also became interested and they decided to put in a much larger miniature oasis next to their front porch. Consisting of buildings, colorful stones, swings, lights assorted creatures, plants, numerous fairies and much, much more, this area has taken on a whimsical magic of its own.
The passion of a fairy gardening has been going on for several years. It is said that with a fairy garden one has good luck. Perhaps this is why it has become such a popular pastime that people just can't resist. There are many websites and stores offering almost anything anyone could imagine to keep expanding their fantasy gardens.
Doug and Chassy are always adding something new as well. The two were adding more last week and were very excited about doing so.
Keep an eye out around any fairy garden as it is said that a true fairy may appear and past down good luck to those who care for their magical homes.
