The Specs
Agreeable Gray is a warm greige that is one of our favorite neutrals to recommend. Despite its name, the color really is more of a greige than a gray, although depending on the way the sun hits your home, it could read more gray. As with any greige paint color, Agreeable Gray does have some subtle undertones. Although it stays pretty warm no matter what texture it’s used on, the color does have a hint of green to be mindful of.
Recommended Applications for Agreeable Gray
If you’re searching for a neutral color that will look good on your entire exterior, Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams fits the bill. Truly versatile, the subtle greige translates beautifully on any texture. In the rendering above, our designers used it on both the brick and siding. Combined with the white trim, natural stone, and wood accents, the shade reads warm and inviting.
While Agreeable Gray makes for a great star of the show, it’s also good for supporting details, too. For the home above, our designers used Sherwin Williams’ Alabaster on the stucco and Agreeable Gray on the trim, along with some wood and stone accents. The result is a lovely neutral cottage aesthetic.
Agreeable Gray Paint Color Pairings
If you really want to lean into the warmth of this neutral tone, pairing it with white accents is a great way to achieve that. Above, we used Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White for the trim against Agreeable Gray on the siding. Sherwin Williams’ Peach Fuzz on the front door provides a subtle-yet-charming pop of color.
Because of how adaptable it is, you can also pair Agreeable Gray with darker tones. For the vertical siding on this home, our designers suggested Sherwin Williams’ Porpoise, creating stark and compelling contrast when paired with Agreeable Gray on the horizontal lap siding.
