These two greige paint color from Benjamin Moore are very similar, and at first glance it is hard to tell them apart. They do have some notable differences that may be what helps you decide to choose one color over the other.
Undertones
Pale Oak has yellow undertones that give it its warmth, but also some beige and gray as well as pink and purple undertones at times. In the perfect lighting situation, Pale Oak can look like a gorgeous light beige color.
In a North Facing room, it can appear more gray and even lavender, but when there is bright natural light, Pale Oak can look more off white. Overall it is a more creamy, beige color than Edgecomb Gray.

Edgecomb Gray has green and gray undertones with a bit of warmth, but not so much that it reads yellow. It has more gray than Pale Oak.

LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value-A scale from 0-100 that shows how much light a paint color will reflect. The higher the number, the lighter the paint color. The lower the number, the darker the paint color. 100 is pure white, 0 is true black.

My favorite white trim colors to pair with Pale Oak are Chantilly Lace and Pure White. My favorite trick with these color combinations is that you can flip the wall color and the trim color as well with Chantilly Lace or Pure White as a wall color and Pale Oak as the trim color.
Edgecomb Gray looks great when paired with off white paint colors rather than stark whites. White Dove is an excellent choice for this. I also like Edgecomb Gray alongside Simply White.
Lighter Versions of Edgecomb Gray and Pale Oak
A lighter verstion of Pale Oak is one shade lighter on the color strip which is Seapearl by Benjamin Moore. It is a warm off white paint color with gray undertones. Since Pale Oak itself can look off white it certain lighting, any color lighter than Pale Oak will be start to be more off white than gray.
A lighter version of Edgecomb Gray is another very popular neutral paint color from Benjamin Moore, Classic Gray. This paint color is very similar in color to both Edgecomb Gray and Pale Oak. It is a super light gray that can also lean a little off white (sound familiar?)
