Overview
Reo Mikage (
Reo Mikage is a contender for the Blue Lock Project, who currently plays as a center midfielder for England's Manshine City during the Neo Egoist League.
Reo is the heir of the Mikage Corporation, with his total assets valued at about 705.8 billion yen or $5.3 billion USD. Prior to entering Blue Lock, he was a student at an elite high school, where he met his first long-term friend, Seishiro Nagi, who started playing soccer shortly after with him due to Nagi's natural talent in the sport, and Reo's craving to go further in football. Being a young man who has almost everything at the tips at his fingers, owing to his father being the head of the Mikage Corporation, his one and only desire is to win the Football World Cup.
When he first arrived at Blue Lock, Reo was a member of Team V and arguably the second-best player in his designated stratum. He played as a centerback for the Blue Lock Eleven against the Japan U-20.

Personality[]
![]() |
Reo is a very charismatic, sociable, and joyful individual. During his high school days, he had lots of friends, was fairly popular and had many admirers. He was also the top student and participated in many sports activities. However, he found his life boring both because of how easy it was and how he got whatever he wanted, so he decided to carve a path where he would have to fight for what he wanted and prove his existence. He then found satisfaction in playing football to obtain the coveted World Cup, and would do anything he could to win, like paying and taking care of a natural football prodigy like Nagi to get further in football.
At the end of First Selection Reo was confident in his team winning yet another game but when Team Z started shutting down and scoring on Team V, Reo became overly aggressive and frustrated at a situation he did not understand going as far as to foul somebody. Reo was noticeably lost for words when Team Z ended up winning the game, and when Nagi decided to join Isagi's Team White instead of waiting with him to find another teammate in the start of the Second Selection. He started to stubbornly refuse to accept that the prodigy, Nagi, his best friend for months and someone Reo regarded as ‘his’, would choose to play with someone else over him. He spent the half of Second Selection focused on ‘winning’ Nagi back, only to lose the match deciding who would pick a player from the other team, almost losing Nagi as a friend as a result. After Reo survives the hardships of the Second Selection, he lets go of his stubbornness and realizes his weakness, vowing to get stronger to stay close to the people that matter to him, and to get further in his goal of winning the World Cup. After finally letting go of his materialistic attachment to Nagi and finally realizing what he needs to do to be strong and stay with his friend, Reo vowed to become the best striker in the world along with the top players in Blue Lock.
Reo is very serious about his football career as he uses all the resources available to study and become refined at football as fast as possible. He is careful and observant, tending to analyze every player's strengths and weaknesses, showing a very wide and tactical mind.
Character Design[]
Reo is a tall young man with a lean and strong build. He has chin-length purple hair (shown in the official colored art), usually tied in a high bun, leaving two locks of hair framing his face. He also has bright purple eyes, also shown on the official art.
At Blue Lock, Reo wears the standard-issued body suit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team V’s blue #9 jersey and wears Team V's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team Red's #10 jersey that later switched to white. During Third Selection, he wore Team C's white and blue #10 jersey. During the match against the Japan U-20, Reo dons an official blue-colored Blue Lock player uniform with the #14.
Abilities and Equipment[]
Powers and Abilities[]
- Utility Player: Capable of playing any role that his team needs, Reo is incredibly versatile. Able to cover ground, create for his teammates (using Metavision that was adopted from Yoichi Isagi to deliver a pinpoint pass to Seishiro Nagi) , score using techniques adopted from his teammates (as seen when he scored using Kenyu Yukimiya's gyro shot) , and defend the oppositions biggest threat (as seen with Reo shutting down Ryusei Shido using Oliver Aiku's defensive techniques), Reo is full capable of doing it all for his team, no matter what they need. After playing the Japan U-20 and training with England’s Manshine City, Reo has incorporated all the skills he has learned from the positions he has played into a singular style that make him a strong and variable player who can start and finish off any kind of play.
Skills[]
- Piloting Skills:
- Dexterity: Despite not being involved in soccer from a very young age, Reo is very skilled at all aspects of the sport. He has excellent passing, shooting, dribbling, and ball control capabilities (among other skills). He also has high physical capabilities, with good stamina and speed. He is a well-rounded and excellent player, being considered as a ‘Jack-of-All-Trades’. On many occasions, it has been stated that if most people in Blue Lock have low skill levels in some of their stats and extremely high skill levels in other areas, then Reo has nearly perfect stats across the board.
- The Chameleon (
複写変化 Kamereon?): Using his all-rounder skills, excellent soccer abilities and sense, and his 99/100 stats across all his various skills, Reo is able to emulate the abilities that other players have demonstrated. Reo uses his nearly perfect skills to be able to understand how others, who are specialized in certain areas, are able to produce certain abilities. Using this understanding, he is able to recreate these abilities on his own. The only downside of this ability is that Reo can only copy skills and abilities that are within his physical capability and not natural physical talent, such as Ryusei Shido’s extreme physical moves or Hyoma Chigiri’s insane speeds. The abilities he copies, however, are weaker than the original because of his skills only reaching 99% at maximum power, and cannot match up to the originals when compared.- Long Pass: Copied from Meguru Bachira.
- Gyro Shot: Copied from Kenyu Yukimiya.
- Total Defence: Copied from Aiku Oliver.
- Physical Pressure: Copied from Kazuma Niou.
- Trap Shot (Pass): Copied from Seishiro Nagi.
- Neo Chameleon Strike Mode: Taking his Chameleon Style one step further, Reo uses his nearly perfect skills to copy high-level plays that allow Reo to move as a striker and score his own goals. He flawlessly steals the ball, breaks through the defense of Bastard München, and almost scores a goal using this new style in the Neo Egoist League in the first minutes of a game.
- Cross Elastico Nutmeg: Copied from Sae Itoshi.
- Trivela (Shot): Copied from Rin Itoshi.
- Metavision: After watching Isagi use Metavision, Reo subconsciously started copying the same ability during the same match and used it to become a dangerous player on the field, almost stopping Isagi’s monumental play at the end of a game.

Story[]
Original[]
Reo was born as the heir of the Mikage Corporation (with total assets valued at 705.8 billion yen). From an early age, he got anything he wanted such as games, toys, and gaming consoles. However, as he grew up, Reo expressed his boredom and said he wanted something for his own, something he could treasure himself. Most importantly, he wanted something that wasn't easy to obtain. It was during his first year of high school that he stumbled upon a video of the World Cup and found something that he had been seeking for so long.
His father refused to support his football dreams and wants him to give up on it, saying that only those chosen by football itself can make a living out of it. His parents want him to graduate from an elite high school and become an elite businessman who can take over the company.
However, rather than being discouraged, it fueled his desire even further. He was confident that he would lead his school to the nationals until he realized that the school's football club was trash because he attended an elite high school. Reo walks around the school while thinking of more ways to prove himself to his father. Distracted by his thoughts, Reo accidentally bumps Seishiro Nagi, making Nagi drop his phone. Before the phone could hit the ground, Nagi catches it with his leg. Seeing Nagi's excellent skills, Reo asks if Nagi was part of the football club. Hearing that Nagi has never played football in his whole life made Reo find him more astonishing. Reo found it so captivating to meet someone so talented in football without the help of training. Because of this, Reo regarded Nagi as his own gem. Reo invited Nagi to play football with him, and, in turn, he'd pay him money.
