Rolls-Royce, the epitome of luxury, has unveiled a one-of-a-kind creation from its Bespoke service, inspired by the buyer's love for the early days of arcade gaming. Meet the Black Badge Ghost Gamer, a car that takes us back to the golden era of the 1970s and '80s, when Space Invaders ruled and Atari was king. But here's where it gets controversial... this car is not just a tribute to gaming, it's a work of art that challenges our perceptions of luxury.
The Bespoke department has gone above and beyond, creating a unique 'Cheeky Alien' motif that adorns this Ghost. Picture this: a hand-painted 'Coachline' running along the car's sides, featuring an alien in green paired with a vibrant pink 8-bit explosion, crafted with precision using tiny 3mm square 'pixels'. It's a nod to the bitmapped graphics of the past, bringing a retro feel to this modern marvel.
On the other side, the colors shift to yellow and blue, paying homage to the classic arcade games and their iconic cabinets. The main paint scheme is a stunning Salamanca Blue, topped with a deep-shimmer Crystal over Diamond Black, reminiscent of the metallic shine of those early arcade machines. Even the Spirit of Ecstasy ornament and the 'Pantheon' radiator grille are illuminated, adding a touch of magic to this gaming-inspired masterpiece.
And this is the part most people miss... the attention to detail doesn't stop there. The rear picnic table boasts a metal Cheeky Alien inlay, and the front air vent, hidden behind black chrome, reveals an engraved 8-bit motif. Each of the four doors has its own 'Bespoke Illuminated Treadplate', with 8-bit graphic lettering that reads 'PRESS START', 'LOADING...', 'LEVEL UP', and, of course, 'INSERT COIN'. It's like a secret code, inviting the owner and their passengers to embark on a gaming adventure.
But wait, there's more! The driver's seat is a masterpiece in itself, with Bespoke embroidery in an 8-bit font that flickers like an old-school monitor. Each seat is numbered, and the Cheeky Alien motif makes an appearance once again. Between the rear seats, a hand-painted space scene unfolds, inspired by vintage arcade cabinets, with inlaid stainless steel flying saucers that took the Bespoke department two weeks to create. It's a true labor of love.
Joshua McCandless, Bespoke Designer, shared his excitement: "Working on this project was an extraordinary privilege. We immersed ourselves in the 8-bit world, studying everything from the games themselves to archive images and original artwork. Our goal was to capture the essence of that era and create an immersive experience for the client, a thrill reminiscent of pressing 'start' on an arcade machine.
And the surprises keep coming! The Ghost's 'Illuminated Fascia' has been transformed into a starry battlefield, with an 85-star 'gunship' surging through the starfield. Above, the 'Pixel Blaster' Starlight Headliner features 80 bitmapped battlecruisers, crafted with hand-placed fiber-optic lights. It's a celestial gaming spectacle.
