Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray: a complete color review (2024)

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray is one of the most popular whole-house neutral greige paint colors. Let’s talk about this color and why it is so popular!

If you want to paint your house a neutral paint color, you are extremely likely to land on Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray.

This is one of the most popular paint colors – for designers and new builders.

In fact, our entire home was painted Agreeable Gray when we moved in.

Personally, I prefer a bit more color so we are slowly getting rid of the Agreeable Gray. But, many people love a neutral wall and this is a great option!

Agreeable Gray is – yeah I’ll say it – agreeable enough to not offend anyone and makes a great whole house paint color, too!

Let’s talk about what makes this super popular paint color!

Color Family

Agreeable gray is technically a greige and can fall into either the gray or beige color family.

Light Reflectance Value

60 – on the lighter side, but still plenty of color to it.

Light Reflective Value is the measurement of how much light a color bounces around. This is on a scale of 0 to 100 with 0 being pure black and 100 being pure white.

RGB Colors

R:209 G:203 B:193 – More red and green than blue, which gives this color warm undertones.

RGB describes the amount of each color – red, green, and blue – present in a color. This is on a scale of 0 to 255 for each color. This is basically the color mix to make the color!

Hex Code

#d1cbc1

Undertones

Agreeable Gray does not have one specific strong undertone. It really bounces/reflects the colors around it. Reddish tones will make it look more pink, golden tones make it look more yellow.

It is definitely a warm toned shade of gray. This means it reads more pink/yellow/tan and definitely not cool/icy/blue.

Best uses

Agreeable Gray is really easy to use and decorate with. It’s perfect to paint an entire home or entire room. It’s not a bold color for an accent wall or a piece of furniture, so I wouldn’t tend to choose it for that!

If you have a home with a lot of warm toned accents – travertine or similar stone tile, wood cabinets, warm toned floors – this is an easy neutral to use.
